UW GI Changemakers

Meet the Changemakers who have helped shape, define, and guide the department and the GI division across all of the mission areas. We are grateful for their leadership.

Drs. Teresa Brentnall, George Ioannou, Sum Lee, Brian Reed, and Christina Surawicz.

Brentnall Dr. Teresa Brentnall discovered the Palladin gene, and is co-director of the SCCA Pancreatic Cancer Surveillance Program.  

Ioannou Dr. George Ioannou, Director of  Hepatology at the VA and a leader in Liver Disease.

Lee, Sum Dr. Sum Lee, the former UW GI Division Head who shaped our division.

Reid Dr. Brian Reid, founder of the Seattle Barrett's Esophagus Study, and a world renowned expert in the field.

Surawicz_Christina Dr. Christina Surawicz, the first woman president of the American College of Gastroneterology, and advocate for gender equity in medicine.
