Biography

Michael Saunders, M.D., is a board certified physician and medical director of the Digestive Disease Center at UW Medical Center. He is also a UW professor of Gastroenterology and Medicine.

Dr. Saunders feels it is important to focus on involving patients in the treatment and management of their condition.

Dr. Saunders earned his M.D. at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He is board certified in both Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine. His clinical focus is on advanced therapeutic endoscopy including endoscopic ultrasound, pancreaticobiliary endoscopy, endoscopic mucosal resection and ablation of early gastrointestinal cancers, balloon enteroscopy of the small intestine and endoscopic stenting. Dr. Saunders is co-chair of "The Gut Course," the highest rated course in the core curriculum in the School of Medicine, given annually to second-year medical students.
