Fellowship Programs
We are passionately committed to teaching.
In addition to training medical students, medical residents, surgical residents, and fellows in gastroenterology, our faculty contribute to national and international teaching programs.
They participate as instructors for Continuing Medical Education courses and as consultants in the development of training policies, practice guidelines, and training syllabi.
Our training program for fellows is vigorous, flexible, yet highly structured and intensely nurturing.
The University of Washington has an enviable record of training fellows who become highly successful in their academic careers. Fellowship training is supported in part by a training grant from the National Institutes of Health.
We offer two pathways of training: Physician-Scientist and Clinician-Teacher. We are also pleased to offer a one-year ACGME-accredited fellowship in Transplant Hepatology.
Continuing Medical Education
We offer a variety of continuing medical education opportunities throughout the year, from single-day events focusing on topics currently impacting patient care and clinical practice, to a weekly series with rotating topics and presentation formats, such as journal club and grand rounds.
The aim of our continuing medical education program is to support the continuing education needs of faculty, students, and graduates, as well as primary care providers and other healthcare professionals in our community.
Our programs are focused on the improvement of patient care and are chaired by a combination of University of Washington faculty, as well as national and international experts in different fields.
