SIMR Seminars

Purpose and Scope

Seattle’s Informal Microbiome Research (SIMR) Seminars provide a constructive and supportive space to offer and receive feedback on microbiome research, including works in progress. UW Gastroenterology shares a passion for research with many in the Seattle science community and hosts visiting speakers who share their work at the SIMR Seminars.

Seminars are not recorded in order to encourage presentations on new work. Most attendees are members of the academic/clinical microbiome community in the greater Seattle area and its alumni.

Seminar Format

SIMR Seminars are held approximately every other Wednesday between 3:30-4:30 PM (Pacific time zone). There are two 20-minute presentations per session, with 3-5 minutes of questions and discussion after each presentation.

Presenters are encouraged to stay beyond 4:30 PM for continued discussion, if possible. We recognize that these are quite short talks, but this fits without theme of being informal and allows us more space for more presenters, and more time for audience questions.
