The UW GME Prospective Residents and Fellows webpage contains comprehensive information about the recruitment process for University of Washington residency and fellowship programs. We encourage all applicants to review the important information, documents, and policies on this page before applying through ERAS.

2026 Fellowship Program Recruitment Timeline

June 4 – 2027 ERAS season begins
July 1 – Applicants can begin submitting applications to our program.
July 15 – Program begins to review applications in ERAS
August 3 – Program Administrator will start to send interview invitations to applicants
August 3 – Applicants invited to interview will be able to schedule in Thalamus
August 26 – NRMP Match opens
September 3 – Chief Fellows host GI Fellows Recruitment Happy Hour
September 4 – First Interview Day of the recruitment season!
September 30 – Ranking opens
October 1 – The Chief Fellow hosts a 2nd GI Fellow Recruitment Happy Hour
October 23/30 – Last Interview Day of the recruitment season!
October 28 – Program finalizes complement
October 30 – GI Fellowship Recruitment Interview session concludes
November 18 – Program Rank Order List Submission Deadline
December 2 – MATCH DAY!

The MATCH results will be announced by the Program Director as soon as results are communicated to the program.

Application Requirements

Please submit all documents required by ERAS, including the following:

Most updated Curriculum Vitae (CV)
Medical School Transcript
Medical Student Performance Evaluation (MSPE)
Personal Statement
Photo
USMLE Transcript
At least three letters of recommendation from faculty members or professional staff at your medical school and/or hospitals where you have trained. At least one letter should be from either the Chief of Medicine or the Residency Program Director at the institution where you completed your internship and/or residency training.

Our program utilizes the Thalamus platform to review applications and coordinate interview scheduling. Applicants are required to register with Thalamus to receive important communications regarding interview invitations, scheduling, and other recruitment-related updates.

In addition, our program participates in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP). Applicants are responsible for reviewing applicable NRMP policies, completing the required registration process, and adhering to all registration and rank-order list submission deadlines. We strongly encourage applicants to familiarize themselves with all NRMP requirements to ensure eligibility for participation in the Match.
