Development of a Quantifiable Ultrasound Biomarker for Hepatic Steatosis (LYNX)
The research study is considering a non-invasive way to measure the percentage of fat in the liver using ultrasound. This could help detect early signs of a very common condition called metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD). Current tests, like MRI or biopsy, can be expensive or invasive. If successful, this ultrasound tool could become an easier and more accessible way to monitor liver health - especially for people with obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, or high cholesterol.

CIRRHOSIS
This research study wants to understand whether supplementing copper is safe and can help patients with cirrhosis. Poor nutrition is one factor that can affect how cirrhosis patients do over time. Copper is an important nutrient all of us must get from our diet. Both too much or too little copper can affect one’s health. We recently found that many cirrhosis patients had lower than normal copper level in their blood, and these patients tended to develop infections and do not live as long as patients with normal copper level.

FrAILT: Functional Assessment in Liver Transplantation
This will be a prospective cohort study of patients with liver disease. Subjects will undergo geriatric assessments of frailty, functional status, and disability using functional status measures at baseline and at every clinic visit in the pre-transplant setting. Subjects will also answer questions regarding quality of life, personality, and/or cognitive function. Subjects will again undergo assessments at every clinic visit through 12 months after transplant. Then, they will be followed annually.

Prospective Clinical Trial of Safety and Efficacy for Transnasal Endoscopic Vacuum Therapy
The specific aim of this study is to determine the safety and efficacy of using the Simpl-E-Vac transluminal endoscopic vacuum therapy device for gastrointestinal leaks. Through this study, the goal is to validate whether the modifications to the existing system for endoscopic vacuum therapy enhance the device's utility and outcomes in clinical practice, potentially paving the way for improved standards in gastrointestinal leak management.

The main purpose of the SYNERGY-OUTCOMES study is to find out whether retatrutide and tirzepatide can prevent major adverse liver outcomes (MALO) in people with high-risk metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD). The study will enroll adults who have MASLD based on non-invasive tests (NITs), which indicate they are more likely to develop MALO. Participants will be randomly assigned within a Master Protocol to receive either retatrutide (N1T-MC-RT01), tirzepatide (N1T-MC-TZ01) or placebo. The trial plans to enroll about 4,500 adults and will run for approximately 224 weeks. Participants may have up to approximately 25 to 30 clinic visits throughout the study to monitor their health, complete study procedures, and assess liver function and disease progression.
