Sarah Atkinson, MD

Sarah Atkinson, MD

Dr. Atkinson is a colorectal surgeon at the University of Washington and Seattle Cancer Care Alliance specializing in colorectal surgery. Joy Chen, MD

Dr. Chen is a colorectal surgeon at the University of Washington and Seattle Cancer Care Alliance specializing in colorectal surgery. She is highly experienced in treating patients with many colorectal diseases, including Inflammatory Bowel Disease. In addition to providing care, Dr. Chen is interested in improving access to preventive colorectal cancer screenings and multi-disciplinary care in underserved communities. Her research has focused on the role academic institutions can play in supporting preventive health for colorectal cancers. Dr. Chen has written numerous publications, and in 2021 was named to the Top Doctors list for Colon and Rectal Surgery by Seattle Met Magazine.

Michelle Cowan, MD

Michelle Lee Cowan, MD

Dr, Cowan is a colorectal surgeon at the University of Washington and Seattle Cancer Care Alliance specializing in colorectal surgery. She has written numerous publications, and in 2021 was named to the Top Doctors list for Colon and Rectal Surgery by Seattle Met Magazine. Dr. Cowan is dedicated to applying a minimally invasive approach to the management of diseases of the colon and rectum — such as robotic, endoscopic or laparoscopic surgery — whenever possible. Mukta Krane, MD

Dr. Krane is a colorectal surgeon at the University of Washington and Seattle Cancer Care Alliance specializing in colorectal surgery. She serves as the Section Chief of Colon and Rectal Surgery at the University of Washington Medical Center. Her clinical expertise includes using minimally invasive surgical techniques. Her research interests focus on quality of life and functional outcomes after colorectal cancer treatment and disparities in healthcare delivery. She has a breath of knowledge pertaining to colorectal cancers, including Inflammatory Bowel Disease. She has written numerous publications and participated in several clinical trials and in 2020 was named to the Top Doctors list for Colon and Rectal Surgery by Seattle Met and Seattle Magazine.

Mika Sinanan, MD

Mika N. Sinanan MD, PhD 

Dr. Sinanan is a surgeon at the University of Washington. He specializes in gastrointestinal oncology and surgery, inflammatory bowel disease, reoperative surgery, complex hernia treatment and diseases of the colon and rectum. Dr. Sinanan feels privileged to be able to help patients return to their families and lives feeling better and healed.
